Complete document discovery, without the back-and-forth.
DocGenie pulls bank, brokerage, retirement, and credit card statements directly from 3,953 institutions through one-time client authorization. Built for consumer bankruptcy, cooperative family law, plus estate, probate, and litigation support.
Read-only access. Records delivered to your firm's existing Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, SharePoint, Box, or Evernote.
Two primary practices, plus the matters that look like them.
- Consumer bankruptcy
Volume-practice scale. 6 to 24 months of pre-filing statements across every debtor account. 10 to 15 accounts per case is typical. The documents department offloads retrieval; the firm files on cadence. Sworn schedules backed by the institution's actual statements, not aggregator summaries.
- Family law (cooperative cases)
HNW-divorce scale. Both parties authorize their respective institutions. Asset disclosure backed by complete records, on the deadline you set, not the one your client's calendar imposes. Tracing experts get clean, named files instead of a pile of inconsistent PDFs.
- Estate, probate, and litigation support
Executor or matter-side party authorizes once. DocGenie pulls records across institutions, organized for inventory, schedules, or evidentiary use.
The cost of an incomplete picture.
- Bankruptcy schedules signed under oath while statements are still being chased down.
- Clients producing documents in pieces, missing accounts, missing months.
- Tight filing deadlines absorbed by document collection instead of legal work.
- Probate inventories built from "I think these are all the accounts."
- Hourly time billed for paralegal work that's really data entry.
Complete records, on a deadline you control.
-
The complete asset picture in days, not weeks.
Authorization runs once. Documents arrive in the case folder. The pre-filing or pre-disclosure assembly window collapses from a multi-week back-and-forth to a single batch.
-
Executor and debtor authorization, not credential collection.
The authorizing party logs into their institutions directly. Your firm never handles credentials, never relays a 2FA code, never logs into a client portal on their behalf.
-
Tokens renew before they expire.
Authorization tokens last 90 to 365 days depending on the institution. DocGenie sends a re-auth request to the authorizing party before any token expires. The folder fills, the case continues.
-
Filing deadlines met without document drama.
Bankruptcy 341 prep, probate inventories, divorce financial affidavits. Records arrive before you need them, not after the deadline forces a continuance.
What DocGenie does and doesn't do.
DocGenie works when the authorizing party (debtor, executor, or cooperative spouse) provides one-time authorization at each institution.
DocGenie does not retrieve documents through subpoena response, court order, or non-cooperative discovery. If the opposing party won't authorize, DocGenie isn't the right tool for that piece of the case.
For cooperative production, asset disclosure, and complete-records assembly, DocGenie replaces weeks of back-and-forth with a workflow that runs in the background.
The court asked for the statement. Not a summary of the statement.
Plaid-based services and similar API tools deliver asset-summary PDFs, not the institution's actual statement document. For consumer bankruptcy filings, family-court disclosures, probate inventories, and any matter where the filed exhibit must be the bank's own statement, asset summaries fail the requirement.
DocGenie pulls the institution's actual statement, in the institution's own format, with the institution's own metadata intact. That's the document the court, the trustee, or opposing counsel asked for.
For legal teams: if you have ever paid for a Plaid-based service, retrieved an "asset summary," and then had to pull the real statement manually anyway, this is the gap DocGenie closes.
Read-only by design.
DocGenie is bounded to document retrieval. Cannot move money, change account settings, or access non-document data. The mechanism is the same whether the institution supports direct authorization (token, no password) or credential-based access (encrypted, firm-unique key, deleted on revoke).
- AuthenticationRead-only on every retrieval
Cannot move money, change account settings, or access non-document data. In both authentication modes (direct or credential-based), access is bounded to document retrieval.
- EncryptionAES-256 at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit
Where DocGenie holds a credential, it is encrypted with AES-256-GCM under a key unique to your firm. The connection mode is shown before you authorize.
- RevocationRevoke deletes the credential
Revoke from your DocGenie account and the stored credential is deleted. The retrieval pipeline stops on the next cycle. Past retrievals stay in your cloud storage under your firm's controls.
- ComplianceSOC 2 aligned, GLBA-aligned
Security controls aligned with SOC 2 Type II requirements. Data handling practices align with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act safeguards rule. Cyber insurance underwritten by Chubb.
What this looks like in practice.
-
Consumer bankruptcy filing
Debtor authorizes banks, credit cards, retirement accounts, and brokerage through the Client Connection Link. DocGenie pulls 6 to 24 months of pre-filing statements across 10 to 15 accounts. The documents department reviews and routes; the filing team works from complete records. Filing cadence holds.
-
Divorce (cooperative case)
Both parties authorize their respective institutions. DocGenie pulls financial records into a shared case folder, named consistently across institutions. Asset disclosure goes out backed by complete documentation. The tracing expert gets clean inputs, not a cleanup job.
-
Probate administration
Executor authorizes the decedent's institutions where access is permitted under their executor authority. DocGenie pulls recent statements across every authorized account. Inventory built from real records, not memory.
3,953 institutions, including the ones legal cases need.
- Banks and credit unions
Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citibank, U.S. Bank, PNC, plus regional banks and credit unions.
- Brokerages
Charles Schwab, Fidelity Investments, Merrill, Morgan Stanley, Edward Jones, and more.
- Retirement
Empower Retirement, Voya Financial, TIAA, plus 401(k) administrators and IRA custodians.
- Credit cards
American Express, Chase, Capital One, Citi, Discover, and more.
Per-case pricing that holds with caseload.
DocGenie meters retrieval in credits. 1 statement at most major US banks costs 5 credits. Family law and consumer bankruptcy practices typically land on Enterprise because the Client Connection Link (the cooperative-party authorization link) is bundled at that tier. The Free plan covers 2 connections, no card required.

-
Is DocGenie output admissible as evidence?
DocGenie delivers the institution's actual statement document, in the institution's own format, with metadata intact. Authentication and admissibility are case-specific and depend on your jurisdiction's evidentiary rules. The document itself is the document the institution issued; consult your jurisdiction's authentication standards for the argument.
-
What if the spouse won't authorize?
DocGenie is for cooperative authorization only. For non-cooperative discovery, you'll need subpoena practice or other tools. DocGenie can still handle the cooperative party's records, and it stays out of the matter for any party that hasn't authorized.
-
How do you handle privilege?
DocGenie retrieves financial documents only. We don't access communications, work product, or anything outside the document scope of the authorization. Documents land in your cloud storage under your firm's controls and your firm's privilege regime.
-
Can I use this for subpoena response?
No. DocGenie is built for the authorizing-party workflow. If your firm receives a subpoena, that's a different workflow. DocGenie does not handle subpoena production.
-
What happens to the data after the case closes?
Your firm retains the retrieved documents in your cloud storage. The authorization can be revoked by the client at any time, which deletes any stored credentials. Past retrievals stay where DocGenie delivered them, under your firm's controls.
Stop assembling. Start litigating.
